Montecatini Val di Cecina
Montecatini Val di Cecina is a small municipality in the Pisa region that is best known for having the largest copper mine in Europe in the 19th century. The village is situated on a hill at an altitude of 416 meters, which gives you a beautiful view of the surrounding area as well of the Etruscan city Volterra.

The most important sights in Montecatini Val di Cecina are the church Chiesa di San Biagio, the former town hall Palazzo del Pretorio, and the tower Torre Belforti - all from the 14th century.

Especially the copper mine Miniera di Caporciano is worth to visit. This mine dates back to the time of the Etruscans and was closed only in 1907. Since a couple of years the mine has been restored and is now a museum with guided tours.
